ইমাম গাজ্জালী (রহঃ)  একটা গল্পঃ

এক ব্যক্তি জঙ্গলে হাটছিলেন। হঠাৎ দেখলেন এক সিংহ তার পিছু নিয়েছে।তিনি প্রাণভয়ে দৌড়াতে লাগলেন। কিছুদূর গিয়ে একটি পানিহীন কুয়া দেখতে পেলেন। তিনি চোখ বন্ধ করে দিলেন ঝাঁপ।পড়তে পড়তে তিনি একটি ঝুলন্ত দড়ি দেখে তা খপ করে ধরে ফেললেন এবং ঐ অবস্থায় ঝুলে রইলেন।
উপরে চেয়ে দেখলেন কুয়ার মুখে সিংহটি তাকে খাওয়ার অপেক্ষায় দাঁড়িয়ে আছে।নিচে চেয়ে দেখলেন বিশাল এক সাপ তার নিচে নামার অপেক্ষায় চেয়ে আছে। বিপদের উপর আরো বিপদ হিসেবে দেখতে পেলেন একটি সাদা আর একটি কালো ইঁদুর তার দড়িটি কামড়ে ছিড়ে ফেলতে চাইছে। এমন হিমশিম অবস্থায় কি করবেন যখন তিনি বুঝতে পারছিলেন না, তখন হঠাৎ তারসামনে কুয়ার সাথে লাগোয়া গাছে একটা মৌচাক দেখতে পেলেন।তিনি কি মনে করে সেই মৌচাকের মধুতে আঙ্গুল ডুবিয়ে তা চেটে দেখলেন। সেই মধুর মিষ্টতা এতই বেশি ছিল যে তিনি কিছু মুহূর্তের জন্য উপরের গর্জনরত সিংহ, নিচের হাঁ করে থাকা সাপ, আর দড়ি কাঁটা ইঁদুরদের কথা ভূলে গেলেন।ফলে তার বিপদ অবিশ্যম্ভাবী হয়ে দাঁড়ালো।

ইমাম গাজ্জালী (রহঃ) এই গল্পের ব্যাখ্যা দিতে গিয়ে বলেন :

এই সিংহটি হচ্ছে আমাদের মৃত্যু,যে সর্বক্ষণ আমাদের তাড়িয়ে বেড়াচ্ছে। সেই সাপটি হচ্ছে কবর।যা আমাদের অপেক্ষায় আছে। দড়িটি হচ্ছে আমাদের জীবন, যাকে আশ্রয় করেই বেঁচে থাকা।সাদা ইঁদুর হল দিন, আর কালো ইঁদুর হল রাত, যারা প্রতিনিয়ত ধীরে ধীরে আমাদের জীবনের আয়ু কমিয়ে দিয়ে আমাদের মৃত্যুর দিকে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে। আর সেই মৌচাক হল দুনিয়া। যার সামান্য মিষ্টতা পরখ করে দেখতে গেলেও আমাদের এই চতুর্মুখি ভয়ানক বিপদের কথা ভূলে যাওয়াটা বাধ্য।
